Just got my 37pf9986 which is great - wow!

    Couple of questions:

Is the stuff that comes on the cd-rom all the documentation that's out there?
If so it seems weak which leads to...

How do I change the input from cvbs to rgb?

Is there a way of storing the settings for each input e.g. ext1 is used for sky so I might chose pixel plus where ext2 is dvd so I might chose progressive etc. etc.?

I don't want the hassle of changing all the settings each time I watch a dvd.

How do I check the firmware version?

    thx

Check the firmware be pressing 123654 on the remote. The firmware number is amongst the numbers on the top line. New ones are now mostly 2.3's.

The PP2 settings do not change from input to input, but, to be honest if you enter the forums recommended settings and run the PP2 at 'Movie Plus' you'll rarely have to change anything. The settings are here:

As long as you have plugged your RGB sources into Ext1 or 2 and you are definitely outputting RGB the TV will change automatically. Ext3 is composite only.

There is tons of info on the CD! You just have to dig a bit.....

The TV auto-detects what signal is present. If an RGB signal is there then it will use it. As far as I know there is no way of forcing it.

The TV should remember your personal settings for each input. However if you go into the setup menus and tell the TV that a DVD is connected to ext2 and a STB to ext1 it will use what it thinks are the correct settings. My advice is to leave the inputs set to "other" then the TV will not interfere.

Enter 123654 on the remote and the service menu should come up and give you the firmware release.

Hope this answers your questions. I too think it is a great TV. :)

    Cheers

Cheers guys - I have my skybox set to output rgb and it's on ext1.

When I do info it says it's cvbs - what am I doing wrong?

Does the scart cable need to be a special type to get the rgb signal?

I think the cable is a reasonably good one - it's a cambridge audio thing.

Pressing the "TV" button on the Sky remote changes it to CVBS. Press "Sky" and it should revert to RGB. (That's what it does on mine)

Still cvbs according to the tv - do I need to 'reboot' the tv?

Skybox says it is rgb in the system settings.

Yes. When you can open the connectors, make sure all pins are connected.

The OSD briefly shown after switching to EXT1 (or EXT2) should say "RGB".

Swapped dvd output onto 'problem' cable on ext1 and it displayed rgb so it's not the cable or the input - the tv correctly detected rgb.

Plugging the sky output into the other one switched that into cvbs mode.

So it must be the skybox itself.

When I first got the thing I am sure it was correctly using rgb - is there something I should do to the skybox????

    thanks

MAske sure you are using the TV SCART out, not the VIDEO SCART out.

On most 2-SCART boxes one scart is RGB-out and the other either does not support RGB or it is RGB-in (so you can connect another RGB device there and it can loop-through the RGB signals)
