Teletext are reporting that, after he has completed Return
of the King, Peter Jackson's next project will be a remake
of King Kong which he has been planning to do for the last
10 years. Filming will take place in New Zealand and it will
possibly be released around xmas 2005.
Let's hope that it will be better than the last remake!:)

It would require considerable ingenuity on Jackson's part for his remake to be worse than the previous one.

I liked the sequel to the original King Kong, Son Of King Kong in fact I enjoyed it as much, and felt sorry for the guy at the end. Also from what I can remember Mighty Joe Young was far better than the remake.

Even Peter Jackson can't beat the magnificence of King Kong vs Godzilla:D

Last thing I read is that he was going back-to-basics and making something more along the lines of Heavenly Creatures based on a true-life incident in New Zealand before he goes for another big production. I also heard he was going to be making another horror film, a World War 1 zombie film. I guess time will tell

I've seen it many times in the last couple of years:smashin:

Who needs lame CGI when you've got a guy in a monkey suit beating the crap out of a guy in a lizard suit, surrounded by a model of Tokyo? :zonked:

Funny day for him to announce such a 10 year ambition is it not.
Call me sceptical but I'll take this one with a large pinch of salt until he repeats it on a day that is not April 1st......

It certainly isn't an April Fool's day joke. He's had "King Kong" in development for Universal since 1997.

Follow this link for the complete first draft script and a picture of Jackson with some Kong models. See if you can guess which is the planned cameo appearance for Fay Wray.

    PS: Script is a corker!
