CosmicBlue - Is it really that bad? It seemed quite good when I read through some reviews and such, but if it brings little to the table in REAL terms, might just save 150 quid?

    Cheers

If it's included with your case it's worth using for system and media information display (gives your HTPC a more "CE" feel). The IR control isn't that great although newer hardware revisions support genuine MCE remotes which might be handy.

If you're thinking of buying it as an add on to a system, I wouldn't bother TBH.

Well, looking at 3 cases at present.

The Thermaltake DH102 (I think), the DH101 - no 7inch screen and the Antec Fusion v2.

Hence the question :) I guess it's not imperative then?

Sadly, yes it is quite dreadful - the Media Centre bit of it is especially annoying in that it indexes the music files on your disc and seems to duplicate them - even though you have specifically entered the library address.

I rip all my Music DVDs to disk (CloneDVD4) at original quality/format and it can't play them either. I use PowerDVD7 and Windows Media Player instead now - both are excellent (and wife friendly too).

I built my HTPC using a MCubed HFX Classic case and an iMon was one of the options I chose. I see Mcubed's site http://www.hifiatx.com is offering a different type of display now that is of much better quality and is programable using their own software - I can feel a bit of an upgrade coming on...

Right-click on the imon symbol on the taskbar and select iMON Manager. Under "Window" there is a dropdown box just below "IR Signal indicator on desktop". Select "Don't Show".
