The Optio S is an excellent camera. I speak from personal experience.

AFAIK it is the smallest and lightest currently available.

It is closely followed by a Casio model (Exslim - or is it Exilim S3) which is a tad larger, has a larger LCD screen and uses exactly the same Lens and CCD. Unsurprisingly the performance of these two is practically identical. As is the typical price.

Sony are due to bring out a 5mp camera, about the size of the optio, but with an internal optical zoom similar to the minolta ultra compacts. This may be worth waiting for.

I use the optio, as it is not only small, but thinner than the ixus and so fits better in your pocket
