    Hi,

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I've found only a brief mention of this.

I want to know whether the R1 DTS verison of PH is a flipper ie have to flip the disc over halfway through the movie. I heard that it was due to the DTS soundtrack taking up extra space.

I'm only asking because the rewind DVD comparison site doesn't mention this and I think it is important enough to help decide which disc to buy.

    Any help much appreciated. Cheers

    Ken

The film is contained on 2 discs. As you say its for the dts track. Region2 is only 1 disc but no dts. Is it really that bad that you have to change discs?? Why dont u have a toilet break at that point, you'll need one cause the film is about 3 hours long.

    Hi Geoffc10,

Thanks for that - at least I can now tell Rewind that the R1 is a flipper and the R2 isn't. Might make a difference with the one they recommend to buy.

Yes is it a long film - but I like to decide when I want a break rather than it being forced upon me. Still don't know which one to buy - DTS is far superior to DD in my opinion but PAL is better than NTSC and it isn't a flipper. Life is full of difficult questions !!

    Cheers.

I had a loan of a mates copy on R2. Very good transfer, the DD soundtrack was excellent, the film was a waste of 3hrs!

Dont think that the dts track will make that much a difference.

There is going to be another cut of the movie in the late spring, May is projected, with more combat footage and the romance (that I wouldn't call romantic) downplayed, supposedly. Good lord, the film could get even worse! I thought Ben A.'s ramboesqe scene in China particularly silly.... I would hope that the new footage would be limited to the actual Pearl Harbor attack, which might improve it...some...? If you haven't bought the film by now, play the waiting game, me thinks.
