The US directors cut of "Pearl Harbour" has an "R" rating. The cinema version was PG-13.

Now the current UK release is rated 12 (this was the US theatrical version).

As the directors cut is more violent, it may incur a higher rating in the UK. HOWEVER!!!!! The BBFC does not like multiple version of movies with different ratings to be available simultaneously.

Therefore when the directors cut is released in the UK, it may have to censored down to a comparable 12 certificate. As the only additional footage is the violence and nothing else (see IMDB for details), and this has to be removed, you'll end up with a directors cut thats no different from the current version.

    Bit of a joke really.
