Many DVDs I play appear in letter box mode displaying black bands at the top and bottom of the screen - is there any way to stretch the picture so it fills the screen ? It's connected to a Denon dvd 2910 via a HDMI cable.

The reason that these are appearing in letterbox mode is because the aspect ratio of most movie titles now on DVD are in 2.35:1 rather than 16:9 widescreen. I'm sure the Pioneer will have a setting to zoom the picture so that it appears fullscreen but you will lose information from the sides.
