I am considering the following as a single remote device:

    Dell AximTM X5 Performance (PDA)
    Griffin Total remote (Remote extender)
    Nevo for PDAs (software)

    to control the following:

    Arcam AVR 300 AV amp
    Marantz DV8300 DVD player
    Pace Freeview box
    Toshiba TV

Can anybody forsee any problems - is the Griffin leagal in the UK ?
    Is Nevo the best software?
Is the Dell the best value PDA ?

Save yourself money and time and just buy a dell axim X3. It has much better ir than the X5 so you wont need an extender. My X3 works fine from 4m away (my seat from the av set up) but I have heard they work from up to 7m away. As far as software goes I ust the PDAWin TV Remote software. This uses ccf. files that you build using pronto edit. These are the same files as the philips pronto uses.

I use an iPaq 2210 as a universal remote.

It came with Nevo pre-installed but I soon changed to PDAWIN - as sandman says, you can use Pronto CCF's with it for a much better ui thatn you'll get with Nevo.

As for range, I'm about 8-9ft away from the equipment and it's in a cabinet with acoustic cloth over the from and I haven't had any problems.
