    Hi folks,

I've got the chance to get a new PDA for £230 through work. The choice is between either a Palm (a T3 I think) or an IPAQ 2210.

I'm totally new to PDAs so can anyone tell me which I should/shouldn't go for and why?

I'd like to be able to use it as a multi-function remote control if that makes any difference.

I'd also like to be able to expand it to use wireless networking at some point if possible.

    Cheers!

    Dave

Thanks for the tip Wilber. I do like the look of the Ipaq.
Do you have one/use it to control your Arcam gear?
    That would be ideal.

Can I also ask a stupid question for anyone out there - can you surf web sites - not WAP - with it?

Any good Ipaq info or resource websites you could recommend?

I'd like to get as much info as possible before committing!

    Thanks all.

I don't use it with my Arcam gear as the units don't have standby functions - I'm going to solve that by adding a power brick that's driven through the av amp so when that gets turned on / off it turns on the other componenets.

I have only had mine a short while so I haven't really got to grips with it yet.

I can surf the web in the house via the WiFi connection. When my new mobile arrives (Sony Ericssen T610) I will be able to use GPRS via bluetooth - Orange have assured me that this is a good solution & one that seems to be fairly priced - you pay by the magabyte rather then by the minute 3mb per month costs £4

I've just bought a 4150 for £250 (not much outside your price range) from here! (£212.72 ex. VAT).
    Worth a look?

From memory 4150 cannot be used for remote control of tv etc (I may be wrong but worth checking if it's important to you)

Looks like I may be in the minority here ;)

but had a number of Ipaqs etc, and personally given your choice would pick the T3 everytime, have one at the moment and luv it.

Appologies - I should have read your post more clearly. I'm not that bothered by the remote function and was just excited to find a 4150 at that price. When I say I've just bought one, I mean it too... I put the order in yesterday....
Otherwise they do the 2210 for what looks like a good price here.

Don't worry about it shoehorn! I probably (hopefully!) would have noticed. But many thanks again to Wilber for being on the ball!

In the end I'm going to buy it - the 2210 - myself and avoid the work deal - which meant having to buy it from PC world, paying £300, but saving the income tax, BUT the IPAQ would legally belong to my employer for 2 years

My second-hand T68i is due to arrive tomorrow - hopefully a good match...

Now I just need to get a Wifi CF card cheap... and a PCI one...
    And some SD memory...

Can anyone suggest any good retail sites apart from pricerunner/dealtime/expansys...?

Also anyone like to share good sites for IPAQ software or general info? Have found totalpda.co.uk so far but I really am completely new to PDAs.

    Cheers folks.

    Dave
