PCM vs Auto (with earc)

Hi
I have sony KD55-A8H connected to B&O Beousound Stage soundbar via HDMI EARC.
I do not have any other devices connected to TV or Soundbar.

What’s the best output to configure on the TV?
Options are:
The Digital Output of the TV set to either
1. Auto 1 - Output compressed audio without change
2. Auto 2 - Output only compressed audio for multichannel content without change
3. Always output in PCM

The soundbar supported ATMOS - so if I select option 1 - then i can see a ATMOS (or other depending on source format) received at speaker. If i select PCM I see LPCM at speaker.
I logged case with both Sony and B&O and both seem to suggest PCM is the best option which surprised me.
does anyone have a similar set up and confirm this is the best approach or advise more clear pros & cons to each?

Thanks

Auto 1 is what I use with an atmos soundbar connected to an xg9505 tv.

Pcm if set will see sound processed on your tv.
Whilst auto 1 will pass through dolby digital/ DD+ to your soundbar to be processed.

Here also Auto 1 for the best Dolby (Atmos) sound.
