I recently bought a Pioneer BDR-208 drive, I have J-River Media Centre and TMT5 on my PC, I tried a couple of films after install and found one wouldn't play in JRiver but was fine with TMT5, another disc worked great in both players.

Tonight I put in Breaking Bad Season 5 and found neither player would play it. A quick Google and someone mentioned AnyDVD HD, I installed the trial and can now play the disc, but why do I need this to play it? I don't want to spend 80 Euros when I should have ample software already.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks

I didn't think VLC had the capability to play Blu-rays?

I also want to bit-stream the HD audio, not sure VLC is capable of this.

Is your TMT5 the very latest version? I'm stuck on an older version due to my HD DVD collection, and occasionally I need AnyDVD HD with my Lovefilm rentals. New security measures, presumably.

I think there is a slightly newer version, mine is 5 and it looks like version 6 is out now.

I thought it might be some kind of security, how ridiculous that I paid for a legal copy from a proper shop and I can't play it where I want to, I bet if I'd downloaded an illegal copy it would have worked fine.

    Hi Nick,

I think that Richard was implying, are you on the latest release of V5 TMT? They release updates every so often.

If you go to file explorer, does the disk show correctly in your drive?

I had a problem with the latest spiderman movie on blu-ray. In our htpc the disc won't read at all, but put it in our home server, and the disc is fine - so in the end we ripped it, and now view via my movies.
