My PC has recently started restarting when I try to run the virus checker. Also if I try to search after searching for a few seconds the screen goes then comes back on but the search has stopped and gone!!! It is OK when using word, using the internet etc...

I have tried running Ad-ware and Spybot but it still does it.

It is annoying as I can't run a full viurus check.

    I am using WinXP pro, Athlon 2800, 1024MB DDR400, Geforce Ti4400, 2 x 250GTB S-ATA HDD.

if its restarting it'l more than likely be a hardware not software problem. You can disable it restarting by right clicking on My Computer then going to:
    advanced>start up & recovery settings> & untick automatically restart
