PC Remote Control Software

Has anyone come across any PC software/hardware combinations which will allow me to use a laptop as a remote control? I have a laptop with a 10.4" touch screen and it would be quite useful if I could find some software to use it as a remote control.

Although not too sure if this is suitable for you, this company is in the process of releasing beta testing software.
