    Anyone had this before.....???

A new PC with XP........ When "turning off" from shutdown menu, PC shuts itself off, then 4 seconds later powers itself back on by itself. We have checked the Bios for any auto-on settings etc and can't track any reason.

Bit more info....... problem goes away if we unplug the USB wireless adapter device. It is somehow triggering the motherboard to power back on just after powerdown. Does that point towards anything ?

    cheers

It sounds like you have "wake up on lan" enabled. Have a look for it in the bios settings and disable it.

Thanks, but we checked all of that. It's all disabled.

After a bit of a search on the 'net it looks like this can happen with USB devices and in a few other instances. Very strange

It would be your usb, I have the same issue if any usb cables are plugged in the machine stays alive. Remove them and it powers down fully.
