Reading through my regular games magazine I noticed two games that I was looking forward to this year, which launch dates were, Autumn and Christmas this year, for Deus Ex and Thief III respectively. I now see have been bumped back to Summer, and Christmas 2003. Is this because PC gamers are becoming second best to the X-Box?. Anyway I see there is a site you can go for a download for an other level of Deus Ex at, www.planetdeusex.com/zodiac and for fans of the brilliant Thief pop over to http://www.thief-darkproject.com/default.asp for some members downloads.
Even though XBox sales have been up since the price drop, I don't think they are going to affect the PC market anytime soon. There's a ton of great games in the pipeline, but if the system doesn't get a bigger user-base, developers will start to clear out of the system as time goes on.
Release dates always slip no matter what platform it is on. PC release dates are the worse because of the complexity of compatibility. What you forget is that PC developers have to target a machine for the future, Deus Ex 2 was started 2 years ago??? No way for them to guess current tech.
The Haunted Cathedral! Its a big level, I've so far resisted going to any walkthrough sites so as you can see I'm not that much further on than when we last spoke on the matter. And scary moments? Too many unfortunately, but as the nature of the game lends itself to being played in a darkened room by yourself and with the volume on my brand new Yamaha PC speakers and sub cranked up then I have tended to jump quite alot!! Unfortunately I'm also playing Dungeon Keeper II as well so its not getting my full attention, I will finish though
Is that the first time or the second time there? Just though you do not mean the bit where you go through the caverns, and there you come across the Buricks (the creatures with the poison gas) for the first time? I have played Dungeon Keeper II also to the end, if you build a casino, and hang around there they will start playing Disco Inferno by the Tramps, and every one in there gets down. Also if you do not play it in to the early mornings, try setting you clock to an early time, the game starts talking to you about you being up late, like even demons have to go to bed. You can also click onto a creature and the game can become a first person game (cannot be fully played in this mode though.
You mean I have to come back here? Been getting the other half involved as well, she's still on the first level ha ha ha ha ha (manic laughter) can't wait till she gets into Cragsleft prison the Zombies will just freak her out
Well youve completed 4 more missions since the last time. Its the second time thats the killer (Return to the Haunted Cathedral). I think you have two missions to do to get back there, and the fun really starts. I hope you havent told you wife about the first zombie you meet. I could just imagine the reaction if she does not know.
I had started Thief II on expert, and was part way through it and the HD crashed yesterday so I might have to restart..
Not that lucky it crashes after BIOS on that disk; I cannot get to safe mode. I was cleaning the drive up of some cover games and one of them must have done something naughty like wiping out some registry entries or something. but
Just thought I would mention for Lex and Zone (when he gets round to it), in the Framed scenario of Thief II at the beginning save the game,(so you can re-load it) then throw a scouting orb over the fence to the left, to see????? Thats the surprise.
Sorry Zone did not mean it that way. Meant it as you are playing the first game first. Has you wife got to the second level yet.
No she's still on the first level, trying to get her bearings seems to be the hardest bit, using the map and using the compass, plus her stealth tactics are non existent, she just ends up trying to hack to death every poor sod she comes across, women eh?
You taffing me, thats not the game (joking) If she ever finishes the game and gets on to Thief II the maps are better as they are a little more detailed, and it marks where you have been, and the rough area you are in at present. Last night I played a level, and I could not kill, knock out or let any one see me. I find the blackjack great for getting them from behind or at distance a broadhead arrow in the neck region kills them in one shoot (if they are not looking for you). I take it as read that you are using the water arrows to take out the torches!
So many wants.... Doom III. Unreal 2. Command and Conquer Generals. No One Lives For Ever 2. GTA Vice City.
I see that Halo is out on the PC about the time Halo2 is out on the X-Box. I see Microsoft have got Bioware to make games for the X-Box, will there games for the PC be put back now.
According to them Halo is out before Halo2 on the X-Box as Halo 2 is stated as 28th November. The also have a limited stock of Thief The Dark Project Gold, I repeat Gold (no not real gold) http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...2461/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_19_7/026-3712693-5637210 now that is worth the money.
