pc editing/hardware (post 1)

    hi
    my (work in progress) pc build so far is lian li pc65usb,asus p4t533-c mobo,p4 2.53,512 m/b pc1066 rambus,2 x w/d 80 gig harddrives8 meg cache ones,and an elsa gloria II graphics card.
    running windows xp pro

    as I have just purchased a sony trv 950e camcorder I now wish to progress to pc editing and dvd writing.

    my probable shopping list/upgrades are:
    1. radeon 9700 graphics card
    2. sony dru5ooa dvd writer
    3. firewire card -any suggestions?
    4.terratec dmx6fire 24/96 soundcard

    could anyone please offer advice or alternatives to my plans?

    Rather than the terratec, I'd go for an M-Audio Audiophile :)

    Firewire card - I've got a combo card (firewire/USB2) from Adaptec. It's a few quid more than the standard cards but it does come with bundled software and the Adaptec reliability.

    Windows Movie maker is good for simple editing comes with XP pro. The software bundled with the TRV950 can be unstable and lacking in features. For professional editing you may need to drop some seriouse dough .

    I use a similar setup:

    TR750
    XP pro
    P4 RAid 2.4 GeForce 4

    I forgot to mention that the Adaptec firewire/usb2 combo comes with a firewire cable
