OK, I'm trying to figure out between these two, I'm curious given the choice what would you choose and why? From reading through some other threads it seems the reason for going with the PB12-Ultra was for its smaller size. Reading some of the reviews I see that there is more clarity on the Ultra/2 but that is just outside my price range. :(

So between the Plus/2 or the single Ultra, I'm still kinda not sure. I'd probably use it mostly for movies, and would imagine I Plus/2 would be felt more in those action scenes.

I'm leaning towards buying the PB12-Plus/2 :) just wanting opinions of others.

    Thanks.

    Hi Nick,
Depends on your room size and how loud you listen at.
Remember the Plus/2 is HUGE. This really cuts down your options for positioning.
Nothing can prepare you for the bulk of this thing.
I think most, if not all people who have heard the Ultra driver would say that the sound quality is without compare.
The Plus/2 would probably play louder but really most people would never reach those levels.
So unless you listen at insane levels or have a large volume room go the Ultra.
My room is 4400 cu ft.
    Des.

    Hi Des
Look at the dimensions of both subs pb-ultra-25'deep 18'wide 25'tall
pb+2- 28'deep 18'wide 25'tall theres nothing hardly in it thats why i went for the ultra 2 which in my room 16'x14' does seem overkill but i do like to play at insane levels now and again and you can never have too much headroom. If you dont play at really loud volumes go for the ultra if you do go for the plus and tune it to 20hz.
    Cheers Gonzo. :)

Just watched ROTK EE @ -12db.
So much bass, felt like the couch was twisting under me :smashin:
    I love that movie.

Thanks for your responses. I'm going to go with the Plus/2 since it is in my price range. I did notice that on the svs b-stock today they had Ultra/2 in black finish....only if it was in a cherry or maple. :( I kinda need the wood finish for it to somewhat blend in the house. :)

It would have been 110 volts so no use to us Brits anyway.

I have the same question, so instead of starting a new thread ill ask here.
My new room will be 6m x 8m x 3m high, so its 144 cu m ( 5032 cu ft), I was going for the PB12-Plus/2, but talk of the single driver PB12-Ultra has made me wonder if im doing the right thing. What do you think?

I can't wait for my PB12-Ultra - hopefully coming early may
I went for the single driver Ultra over the twin driver Plus/2 as although i can crank my system a bit, I can't go to silly levels :(
I understand that at lower levels, the differences are not that pronounced, plus the single driver enclosure fits into my space, and the double enclosure is just a bit too big.
Its going to be an awesome step up from my old Yammy sub!

    Hi Marc
Go for the +2 thats a very big room and at loud volumes a single driver would be pushed to its limits.
    Cheers Gonzo.

It might be worth asking SVS to take payment now rather than on shipping as the pound is strong at present (got mine at 1.86 :D ), mind you, what do I know about currency speculation!

Yeah, I'm still undecided myself. I might just bite the bullet and get the Ultra/2....the thought of 190lbs. to move around and position in my room, makes me think how massive the unit must be.

I'm waiting till I move into the new place and have it shipped there, will probably be about a month, I'll post back what my finally decide to get. :)

If you want bass at high SPL in a room of that size it may be worth considering a pair of something - even if it is a pair of something further down the SVS scale. Why not email Tom V and ask his opinion as he knows his products better than anyone.

hi Ian, i have a rel strata now, one idea i have is that i use it in parallel with the rears and the SVS for the fronts and split the LFE signal to both, just to fill the back of the room. the front of the room is 6m wide, the seating will be 4m from the screen. Ive already installed the pipes for the cables for the rear sub, just dont know if ill use it.
