ebay 5 years and never been scammed or had to open a dispute, opened one last night due to a hungarian scammer with incomplete/false / imaginary whatever address details on ebay that I found out after winning the item.

Opens a dispute for item not received after i sent a message to the seller questioning why he is listed as having the item in manchester yet he apparently resides in Hungary

You have to wait until the 4th of september before escalating this dispute to a claim ...logs into paypal seller escalates to a claim!! ***

Item was supposed to be sent via royal mail 24h , seller says to paypal he's emailed it which i requested, i never but there you go

So anyway i logged into paypal after being asked to respond dispute, press the respond nothing, zilch nothing i can press , click punch on my screen can't update the dispute,

There's £35 i'll probaly never see again.. and it was funded from paypal balance too :(

looks like he's done 10 other people too but so far me and another guy are the only ones to leave negative feedback

This used to be so commonplace..10 years ago.

I am almost certain you will be able to recover your money - you have to let a certain amount of time lapse during the resolution process, but just to be safe, give Paypal a call and see what they say.

Another buyer has just left negative feedback, do you reckon paypal will look at the sellers ebay feedback?

It's the being asked to respond to the dispute but being unable to add any info to it that is peeing me off , i'm sure i've read if one party fails to respond then paypal automatically sides with the other party.

Why don't you contact paypal to get that resolved. To me it sounds more like a technical problem you are describing opposed to anything else.

seller now has -4 for feedback score and is no longer registered as a user :(

Paypal still won't let me respond to dispute despite the respond button being available to press

I recently had an issue but had the same problem with using links.
Eventually contacted paypal by phone and he arranged a refund from paypal as a goodwill gesture.
He was able to check messaging which helped as all my messages were written assuming they may be read at some stage, so were polite and accurate despite provocative responses from the other guy.
On the downside - The scammer didn't get the payment to him reversed. But at least I wasn't out of pocket.

well paypal closed down the dispute and sided with the seller...good job Paypal !

apparently it doesn't matter if the item is physical if the seller has put in that the item was emailed I lose all protection.

I recently had a big problem with them , Due to a person buying something from me and paying via paypal .

Ended up the buyer was doing something he shouldnt but resulted in my account being affected and all the payments that id received and sent were affected too.

After many attempts on the phone the issue was finally resolved .

Paypal are useless. Bought a phone from china. Took a while to arrive. Kept for a while, started going faulty eventually didn't even function properly. Sent it back. Seller didn't accept package, contacted paypal out of 45 day paypal protection, so they didn't help. Chinese seller saying just send another I asked for a refund.

Had to do a chargeback through visa. Thankfully got the £150 back.

they were sealed items (microsoft points and live) brand new in cellophane , the seller said he emailed them instead of posting paypal sided with the seller despite me telling them it was a physical product I bought.

I had it happen to me lately, Paypal and Ebay are useless, they employ foriegn staff to deal with complicated claims that they dont understand the ins and outs of. I cant wait for one of the big boys to Rival ebay, i'll certainly jump ship.
