I agree the question was inflammatory; it was a bit like the question. When did you stop beating your wife?
Although later you see the reasoning behind the question.

    Hi,

You should all have watched the BBC3 clips show "MP's Outtakes"! It was absolutely hilarious! It's being repeated several times over the next 7 days, so try and catch it if you can. There are loads of clips with Paxman grilling every politician he can, in his own, inimitable (and hilarious) style! The first repeat is tonight, and then again later on around 1 or 2am. Next showings start on Sunday night, I believe. Check your BBC3 schedules for it, as it's really brill!

That was one of the saddest moments of the election, and Paxman was utterly right to pin Galloway down. He's no anti-war MP as he conned the electorate into thinking he was, he's nothing but a b***** quisling.

    Good on Paxman.

Have you seen half the comments on the site underneath? They think paxman is being racist. I had tears of laughter in my eyes reading half of their moronic ramblings. Completely missed the point.

He was a Norwegian traitor in WW2.
It's now a term synonymous with traitor or collaborator with your nations opponents.

It is based after the Quisling government in Norway (I think - definitely one of the Scandinavian countries) that co-operated with the nazis in WWII.

Quisling was the leader of that government.

It is now a term used to refer to anyone in power who collaborates with the "enemy".

Until Overkill pointed it out, I'd have gone for 'a baby Quisle'

Still, I'll remember it for scrabble.

    Edit:

    Ah, here we are:

    Quisling (1940)
A word Norwegians are not very proud of having given to the world: it derives from Vidkun Quisling (1887-1945), a Norwegian politician who collaborated with the Nazis during World War II. He established his name as a synonym for "traitor", someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country, especially by serving in a puppet government.

I liked it when Paxman asked Michael Howard 'are you thinking what I am thinking?'

    Howard's face was a picture!
