Partridge Day

What is the general feeling about the new series of Alan Partridge tonight? I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but even Alan running on half steam is better than most of the other rubbish that's on.

I have high hopes for Alan tonight...but he does have a tough act to follow after The Office.

If it gets close to the first series, it'll be a winner.

don't worry if the first episode is anything to go by, the series will be as good as the last one. Tonight you'll see Alan go back to his old school to give a talk on being a celeb.

"Back of the net!":D

This TLC thing with Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen) before Partridge looks quite funny as well, a sort of english Scrubs from what I can see.

What, good enough for a late night, ghost slot on Channel 4 you mean :)

Roll on Partridge, it'll be interesting to see if the King can regain his crown from Brent.

I can't wait for the return of Partridge.

Is it just me, or did TV suck this time last year? Now, there seem to actually be shows on TV that I really want to watch. Granted, only 4 or 5, but it's a start. :)

But, the Office is a hard act to follow.

ARGH what the hell is with all this canned laughter? This is painful. Talk about out of place.

Beat me to it. (only 10 minutes into the show) Man, this is sooooooooo distracting.

Operation Good Guys was ruined with a laugh track. This is still good, but would be so much better without it.

The last two series had a laughter track too.

On the whole I thought the first episode was good, but not up to previous standards. It could just be that it's suffering from the weight of expectation though, and I've heard the second episode is much better.

Some classic lines, 'I would say she was big-hearted but that would be buuuuuull****' springs to mind and a lot of it was classic Partridge.

Good, and certainly way better than the insipid and predictable 'tlc' that preceded it, but will need to improve during the series to truly out do The Office.

While I was watching, I was trying to remember if the previous series had laugh tracks. But, it was definitely too loud. I missed a couple of jokes because of the laughter, and I was listening with headphones on.

Still, some great lines.

"Fanny hair."

Yeah, TLC was really bad. Cheap jokes, and most could be seen coming a mile away.

The bit where he threatened the teacher with the hot apple pie was good.

Also liked the builders bit:

'Did you see the match?'

'Which one?'

'Don't know'

And when he's going doing the video presentation to the school kids:

'Rubber up'.

I'll probably watch the repeat on Choice tonight (11pm), there were quite a lot of little comments and touches I think I missed first time round.

I'm gonna have to watch it on BBC Choice tonight as I didn't even realise a new series had started :(

I thought the first episode was fantastic - easily on a par with many from the previous series.

Years ago, I was in the audience for one show of 'I'm Alan Partridge', at BBC TV centre. The laughter track was real, cos the whole live audience was in stitches.

I can hear my girlfriend on the programme, giggling as usual.

It was hilarious :D

Glad they've kept Michael in as a character as he's always been good value :D

Loved the opening scene when Alan had a phone poll to decide who was the best lord LMAO :D :D
