Right, just got home and saw this on the table. Mum said she didnt have to sign for anything there is a From on the front label but the address doesn't seem to exist when paired with the post code and is nowhere near my post code.

The post code on the back with a google search is displaying all Russian stuff.

The back item is where to return it if it is not delivered but I cannot understand the top lettering and just a number and post code seems a tad insufficient.

The address under the "From" seems to be a Jewelers on an estate but with 3 addresses on this thing I am not sure how to proceed.

Ring up the jewellers and ask - they would no doubt be able to advise if they sent the parcel, and where it should have gone, based on the tracking number. A number and a postcode is enough - a postcode will narrow it down to at least a street (if not a subset of houses on that Street, normally less than 15), and the number is, well, the specific number.

The name is Macpherson at number 4 S26 6NU which appears to be Latimer Close.

Would be shut now, was going to have a drive tomorrow see if I could see it.

There was no opening times but that bit over that area is usually shut around 5:00-5:30.

Considering there is what looks to be two bits of tape I am assuming it is a return.

    Edit
With further investigating I managed to find this

DAVID J WIDDOWS. 33 CHESTNUT AVENUE KIVETON PARK SHEFFIELD S26 5LN SOUTH YORKSHIRE

The "2" doesn't look like a "2" on the parcel though lol, I don't suppose his number would be listed anywhere would it or do people not do that anymore.

    Edit 2
Ex Directory number, seems I will have to wait til tomorrow to see if the Southend Address is correct, if not ill have to open it up to see if there is any further info inside such as a receipt with a number on.

Seems to be 2 separate return addresses then lol, how strange the From and Return are different areas of the same park area.

Why was it delivered to you, let alone without a signature is my first concern?

I had the same concerns mate, not a clue. I was out and saw it on the table and thought "I dont remember ordering anything" then thought to myself "Oh, must be for next door, lets have a check" since I have taken quite a few parcels for them whilst they have been out and that was not the case either.

I would be inclined to ignore the sticker on the back, that could have been added at any time in the delivery process
Which leaves you with addressee and the From address on the front to choose from.

If I was cynical I might suggest it has been intercepted before it was properly delivered (as witnessed by all the stickers being intact on the signed for label and that your Mum didn't sign for it) and the return to macpherson sticker added in the hope you as a random wrong address send it to them. Seems a bit complicated for a scam though

Couldn't OP just return it to his local post office with proof of his actual address & ID (in case they don't believe him) & tell Royal Mail to sort it?

It's their responsibility to deliver it to the correct address, not OP responsibility to do their job for them. If it was a simple mistake & easily resolved, I'd redeliver myself, but seems a bit too confusing & could accidentally (despite best intentions) end up redelivering to a wrong address or possibly a scam (although I can't think what).

The return label on the back/bottom checks out for both name & address. As it's not the same as the sender on the front my guess is it's either a recycled box or as IG said, has been transferred from another package during it's journey.

The jeweller's address is correct, they appear to be gold/silversmiths who do repairs. Seems odd to choose a repairer so far away so maybe it's scrap?

Easiest option would be to collar the postie in the morning & hand it back to him to sort. Unless @NorvernRob has a better idea.

Getting dodgier by the minute. Unless it was purchased from the jeweller as a present and then sent on by the buyer to another address of course.

Both Kiverton Park addresses are now validated, and it was posted in Kiverton Park. So I'm now going to suggest that MacPherson is returning it to Worldwide Tech and asked his mate David to post it , who filled in his own details for reasons that escape me. RM then cocked up and it was delivered by mistake amongst alphaomega's other mail.

I'd follow hippo's advice and drop it off at your local PO saying it was delivered in error.

Or it could be one of these dark web drug deals I have heard so much about and trying to hide their tracks.....or it's a beautiful antique watch calling out your name?

OP have a sniff of the package. Does it smell funny? :rotfl:

Just give it back to the Postie or drop it into the nearest post office or delivery office and say the was delivered to me in error, and it wasn't you that signed for it. Being a Postie myself I cannot understand how he's left it at an address that isn't correct. Ok, we all make mistakes but if it's not even close to your address, it's his mistake. Is your address vaguely like the one on the parcel?

Who rubber bands the stuff together? I'm wondering if someone at the sorting office could have put it into a selection for alpha with that signed for panel covered?

You'd be surprised how many times I see the police at my local sorting office collecting multiple small parcels that "smell funny". Bizarrely some of them actually have return address labels on as well.

I work in a very small sorting office and it's down to the actual postman that's delivering and that's normally the same person that sorted the round, which is what i do. But even then at delivery point I unbundle to check I haven't done just that.
