Paradigm Seismic Subwoofers

There is a brief report on the two new Paradigm compact subwoofers in the current edition of Secrets of Home Theater here

Interesting quotes include :-

"The Seismic™ 10-a 12-inch cube and the Seismic 12-a 14-inch cube, are redefining the concept of high-end performance in a compact lifestyle subwoofer design. "

"These are subwoofers that lovers of home theater and bass aficionados have long been waiting for, offering phenomenal output, superb definition and unparalleled accuracy."

The Seismic™ Series is available in Black Ash with Gloss Top. The Seismic 10™ FMV is $1,350.00 (US) and Seismic 12™ is $1,700.00.

Let's hope that Richer Sounds use their normal currency exchange rate and sell these for about £500

Hi,

In response, I can confirm the Richer Sounds are no longer dealing with
Paradigm products.

I undersatand there was a rumour going around the Paradigm had gon into
liquidation, but this is not true.

I hope this helps you.

If this ever get sorted out and someone else starts selling the servo-15 i think you will be looking at over the £1000 mark.

we can always hope that any new reseller would be in touch with the community..... in other words they would realise that with svs alternatives, £1000 a pop isnt going to cut it for the knowledgeable punter

You would think so ,but i don't think so,you can't just pop down to richer sounds as an example and pick up a svs or even a paradigm.Have any other sub's come down in price because of svs?

It really depends on the market..... I certainly wouldnt pay that much for the servo....i'd be far more willing to import the svs....

I would imagine you'd be looking at the retail price or thereabouts if the Servo 15 was sold by a regular dealer. Then again, other than SVS, what else can you get for £800 to compete with a Servo 15? I guess a Velo CHT15 perhaps but other than that you're looking at the M&K MX range which are way over a grand.

Matt.

No, but retailers will rely to a large extent on walk in trade plus magazine reviews and SVS neither advertises in nor has been reviewed by the UK AV mags.

I'm sure I read on avs that someone had compared the seismic to the Servo-15, and that the seismic was certainly the better performer.

I was specifically referring to the servo15 Matt, if the seismis was that much better, maybe id spend on it! That said, I dont think that I will have anything short of a super sub for my next

lol sorry super sub by my def is a DD18 or higher a contrabass. I dont think id go any lower and unfortunately i wouldnt risk such a large amount of cash blind on svs :(

In any case, its a non issue since i need a totally different situation in life for it to happen!

Bit of a broad-stroke isn't it, discounting a ton of models without hearing them? Just out of curiosity, aside from brands and model numbers...what makes a "super sub" in your eyes?:)

ah you know me Matt! I would look at the svs big boys, but would want to hear them first which is always going to be tough (as it would with the contra..... but then again no one has ever questioned it!), id probably consider the big mackies but that might be looking a pair..... beyond that im not really sure!
