I have been doing a wee bit of research before i buy a good dvd recorder. I was looking at the Panny EX85 but have been seeing a lot of bad posts about vaious problems with Panasonic recorders.
I need a player/recorder that has a HDD. HDMI ouput and very good DVD playback. I will be pairing it up with my Panny 600 Plasma. Looking at around the £300 - £400 range. Are the Pioneers range a good alternative to the pannys.

    thanks for any advice

What is the dvd playback like on the DVR-545HX-S. I am looking to get a very good level of playback as possible

I cannot comment directly on the quality of the Pioneer.. but if that is the most important parameter , that puts you back to Panasonics which have the best there is.

There are ususally a few threads running on Pioneers. Users there could probably give you some useful feedback,
