Panny TH42PX70B and DVD upscaling and audio poser - please help.

1) I just ordered a Panasonic TH42PX70B a few hours ago, and was wondering about it's upscaling ability on regular DVDs with a regular DVD player, connected by scart.

does it upscale well? if not, should I switch to a component cable instead? or do they make scart to hdmi converters?

ALSO

2) I was wondering about purchasing a reasonably priced surround sound system for the set, and was wondering whether this would be an alright set: http://hdtvtest.pgpartner.co.uk/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=35945269

and if not, could I get some recommendations? nothing too fancy.

oh, and also, before I forget, my budget for the sound system is about 100 quid.
