    Hi all,

I am trying to use XBOX as media center for my PA50. I have been using an standard s-video connection but today I have received a Microsoft HD A/V pack.

My idea is to connect the XBOX via component video, and configure the video settings to get a better image. To do that you have to set the XBOX in NTSC mode because HD is not available for PAL. No problem, I have modded my XBOX and the video mode is switchable.

When I have connected the XBOX via component video I have noticed vertical lines in the image. In order to check if it is a problem with the HD A/V pack, I connected via s-video NTSC and I get the same problem.

So I think that NTSC in my PA50 makes images with annoying vertical lines.

Is that normal? Is there anyone connecting XBOX to PA50 in NTSC or component video?

    Thanks a lot !!

There was a post for this being a problem on the PV500, but I have connected my xbox via hi-def pack and have no problems.
    Try a search.

    lgrijander,

It sounds like you are in interlaced mode and have an xbox with one of the older graphics chipsets.Have you enabled the HD Video settings on the original xbox dashboard ?

Press the 'i' button on your PV500 remote, this displays what resolution/aspect the TV is in-if nothing is there you're not in 480p.

Regarding the vertical lines, Microsoft updated the graphics chipset around v1.6 and those with the new chipset don't suffer from vertical lines when using component.

I have a PV500 and a V1.1 modded xbox and when running non 480p games there are vertical lines/overbright image.I've also got a V1.6 xbox and this doesn't suffer this problem in 480i mode.BTW it doesn't happen when using a scart, so I have an RGB scart connected for 480i and component for 480p and switch between the two, fortunately there aren't many 480i only games.

Yes I have 480p and 720p on in the original dashboard in NTSC mode.

Do I need to apply the HEX patch to the dashboard to get progressive scan ?

Regarding my XBOX, it is version 1.3.

    Thanks
