I'm considering the Panny LS50 portable from Richer Sounds @£200 (or possibly an Archos 440 @£340) and had a couple of questions: (1) Will the LS50 play MP3s that are recorded on DVD-RAM or DVD-R? (or is it CD-R/RW only?) (2) What use is HighMAT? Can DVDs be ripped to some HighMAT video format and stored on DVD-R/DVD-RAM? (3) Is there anything else that I should consider that plays both MPEG4s and MPEG3s off a single DVD? (This is why Im considering the Archos.) (4) In practice how portable is it? In practice Ill be using it sitting on my lap on the train. (It is unlikely that Ill be able to put in on a table on the train or ever use it connected to a TV.) Again, small size may be an advantage of the Archos (but is a 3.8 screen too small?) Maybe I should consider the 5 Panny LS5? Does it do everything the Panny LS50 does?
