Can you dubb or copy a DVD to the HDD on a panny DMR85

I have done this and it works but what about 5.1 sound. I throught if you used XP mode it would copy the 5.1 sound track.

So far all I get is pro-logic sound

You won't get 5:1, indeed you shouldn't even be able to copy from a dvd due to copyright protection, even with dvd's created on the machine.

I presume you are using the scart bypass technique, connecting av1 to av2 on the machine and using the rf lead to see what you are doing but this will only give you an analogue copy re-digitised onto the hdd. Hence the pro-logic sound which is all the unit can record.
