Panny AV receiver with sound out of sync?

distraught

I have a SKY HD box connected to a Panasonic SA-XR50 receiver/amp with a fibre optic lead, and connected to a Pioneer PDP427 via a HDMI lead.
Everything is fine but when I watch a broadcast, with the sound on the TV muted, the sound that comes out of the speakers connected to the amp is a fraction of a second out of sync with what I can see on the TV. This is particularly annoying with voices on films etc. Does anyone know a way of making an adjustment to align the sound with the picture?
I know there is a sound adjustment in the HD box settings but I have tweaked this but to no avail.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers and enjoy the Bank Holiday!
