panny 6 at John Lewis?

Redface, a bit of ingenuity with your install can overcome your fears of tatty cables and black boxes, you deserve the best, you know it, and it's cheaper that way too. Talk to your local specialist, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Don't know where you are, but someone here will know a specialist or independent installer in your area, you can afford it with the change you'll have for buying a PW6 over the integrated one.

Redface,

I too have the same worries as you about boxes.....i hate them, every last one of them and have been waiting for the 42pa20 to come out as i thought it would be ideal.
Unfortuantely it is quite alot worse than the PW6b so i have had a re-think.

Now i am gonna use an XBox, Pace twin digital tuner with integrated hard disk recorder, and my Bose Lifestyle 28 DVD and surround sound system. That means i have digital TV, DIgital recorder, DVD and Top Sound....plus games for the kids (tee hee) with just 3 boxes......Simple!!!!Worst case would be that you might have an Amp and a DVD and that still means you would only have 4 (subject to console) and most people have that many under there standard CRT anyway.

So, by my reckoning i will have a better quality setup and will have saved myself £600-£1000.

Thats more or less the way I am going - slightly annoying given I have a Tivo. So need a Tivo, 2 tuners (or I cant watch 2 channels) and all the rest. See my problem !!! Maybe the time has come to get rid of Tivo [GULP]

Well if you think so, you'll get some dosh for it here, they're hot property!. You could get a pace, or maybe one of those new Nokias, the 260, has80Gb disc, and roll 2 boxes into 1? Then there is the odd cinema in a box that's well above moderate, teac maybe, sort your own speakers and you're almost there. Maybe it won't sound like a TAG, but not many do.

I know I am replying to an old-ish thread, but was very excited to see the posting from Matravers.

Like Matravers, I have a Bose Lifestyle 28 DVD/surround sound system. I am also looking to purchase a Panny pw6b screen. (I was thinking about the PA20, but have now come around to the idea of the pw6).

Anyway - I'm still confused about what connections I need. I am planning to get a freeview box (probably the Pace twin). I think I can use the Scart (RGB) in one slot to connect to the freeview box. Now where do I connect my Bose? It does component (interlaced) and also S-video. Do I need to add one of the component boards into one of the other slots for the Bose? Or I think I read somewhere that the "VGA" connection can also do component, and I just need a cable?

Matravers, if you are still reading these forums I'd love to know how you have yours configured!

Redsox, the Lifestyle28 does not output Component. It does composite (Terrible) or S-video (Less Terrible). If you intend to use a pw6 you will need to buy a s-video terminal board for it at about £120.

Cheers, Brock.

Brock,

According to the manual it does (Bose 28 with component out). Specifically "NTSC or PAL 1Vp-p with sync on Y". It comes with a componet video adapter, and has an option in the menu to change the optput from s-video to YPbPr. (And I'v verified that this option is on the menu).

As I don't hav a TV yet that can take componet in I haven't tried it yet.
