My friend has changed his Tuner/Receiver for component input board, and is using a JS Tech RGB2YUV convertor for his Sky+.

But the picture quality of component input versus the tuner is horrible, so nasty that even the under-fives have complained!

It looks like each interlaced frame is deinterlaced simply with Single-Field Interpolation (or "Bob") and the picture is highly pixelated. What's going on? I know that the deinterlacer chip is inside the screen, why's it so much worse without the tuner?

Is there a setting one can change in the service menu to change modes, or does it always look this horrible without the tuner box? I may have to give him my old iScan Ultra.
