I've got a panny series 5 plasma (768 x something pixels) that is capable of displaying HD material but it can only display 1080i at 50hz. 720p only works at 60hz. It only has component inputs.

This is what it says in the manual anyway - I don't suppose there is any chance it would work at both resolutions at 50hz is there?

What is my best bet to get Sky HD? - I really don't want to buy a new screen - my wife would kill me!!! Would a scaler do the trick?

    Cheers

a sclaer would but results likely to be less than ideal motion judder etc no HDCP input so its a limited time option, a new screen is the real answer

Dont foget the VGA input its very flexible and if you went the scaler route thats how you would connect

see here for some info on calibration which is very worthwhile if you go the scaler route www.homecinemaengineering.com

Thanks for the info. Can anyone confirm?

Hope is an awful thing - I'd really convinced myself I wouldn't be able to get Sky HD, but now I getting my hopes up again!
