Pretty stupid question as it is not out yet but as Xbox360 native res will be 720p how will panny pwd7 handle this signal.I thought screen accepted 720p but now i'm not sure if i have got this mixed up.
Will the screen downscale this from component input or pc input? Or do you have to input at 480 and let screen display at 480p.
I am on the lookout for screen that will display 720p without downscaling but due to moving home and xmas this will need to wait for a while.

Just interested if screen will accept xbox360 720p resolution and if anyone has any experience of any 720p signal through this screen.

    Any comments appreciated.

It should downscale to fit the screen.

Just read your kit list, looks very familiar........ :)

The screen will accept 720p but will downscale it to show it. HD still looks damn good even on the SD screens. The PW7 will not accept component through the VGA input though. You will need a component card or a VGA card (which does accept component!).

You will need to use the component card you already have installed. And the image looks awesome on even the SD screens. When we are installing external video processors or media PCs the signal we use for Panasonic is 720p. It works even better than feeding the screen it's exact resolution even if it does mean some scaling!!

720p will be downscaled regardless of route to the screen, Parklife's reference to a VGA input was one that could accept component e.g. the PWD8 can accept component over the built in VGA input whereas the PW7's VGA input will not accept component.

You are therefore forced down the component board route on your screen which you alread have. It will probably still look absolutely great even though it is downscaled.

Phil, Parklife is right though in that if you buy an additional vga board for the PWD7 it will take component, it is just the screens native vga input that does not.

thanks for the replies everyone it has put my mind at rest a little.
played the new xbox360 yesterday in glasgow on the 360 hour tour thing and all the consoles were hooked up to 23" samsung hdtv lcds. games looked awesome and i was beginning to panic that they would look poor in comparison on my panny.

all i need now is to get my xbox360 and hopefully the dvd playback will be reasonable on it too.

Hi MEP, never said that an additional VGA would not accept component, although rereading my post it does read like it implies that. Sorry is1111 it's the built in VGA I was refering to.
