At the moment i'm using the vga port to connect my pc to my 42 pv500 which is fine, but i'd like to use the hdmi port...however when i do so i get a very clear picture but with some annoying colour fringing...blue and pink smears around some letters black on white..

could anyone shed any light on why this would occur?? cheap hdmi cable perhaps??

I would point my finger at the video card/card drivers rather than the cable or the screen.

My old video card with a 10m HDMI cable gave a good picture with a permanent green tinge. The same cable with a new card works fine.

Could it be a screen fault? Have you tried other HDMI sources?

Yes, you will, though in my experience with a 42PX60 VGA is hopeless for video.
