I am about to purchase one of the above.

I have seen both and they both have pros and cons.

    Anyone have a view?

Why do you need to ask the question - plasma is the obvious choice!

even for analogue TV, ie is the quality good enough?

I have seen them both demo'd and the Philips looked sharper

Ah, I didn't realise anyone watched analoge anymore!

Seriously if you can afford a Panny plasma you will never regret buying one. I certainly have never looked back.

Definitely avoid geometry, convergence and brightness 'bounce' faults by going for the plasma. Take up less room as well.

If you can affor the plasma, I would get it - after having a decent 100Hz CRT and now having the 42 Plasma, I can honestly say the only disadvantage to the plasma is the gaping hole it leaves in your wallet!

(I dont watch TV though so can't comment on TV/sky quality)

If you can wall mount the Plasma and re-organise your kit you can get huge space savings too - I have about twice as much room in my lounge now.
