Starting to get fed up with the picture quality from Sky via RGB to my plasma. Is there any way to improve the picture quality "significantly" and get rid of the artifacting (my word could be called something else) on the plain parts of the picture when viewing sky?

you could try a iscan ultra.

less jaggies. not sure about the shimmering affect on things like sky scenes or plain background. that might be down to the panel itself.

i have toshiba/panny 4 and get very good picture using ntl(soon to be sky+) and a iscan ultra.

    hope this helps

For your information Keene electronics sell a product called an "OPTAKIT" which is a SCART, RGB to Component convertor plus a lead from SCART to 15 pin "D" type with a small amount of electronics within the lead to sort out sync pulses/jaggies. It retails at £99.99 inc vat and works perfectly.

start with improving the signal (get sky to reallign your dish)
    This should reduce bandwidth issues
then put your RGB through VGA active synch extractor.
This should make it much sharper than SCART.

If does not help, return the synch extractor and get the Ultra. Wait for another month or so with Ultra as the replacement is coming out and lots of them will be for sale. also consider the iScan Pro. It has the same internals as Ultra just less connectivity: svideo should take the sky (it is different from RGB but is as good) and component will take your dvd. If you have more to connect and want a nicer looking box get the Ultra at double the money. iScan should help with the jaggies and is way better at deinterlacing then panny4.
