Interestingly, 720p native input is by pc input only, and it's not native HD, that'd be 1280/720. So more rectangular pixels. No news of it anytime soon here.

America have had an XGA 42" TV for ages now and it was no sign that we would get one then!! They ran a low res PA20 and a high res PX20 since more than a year ago I think, PX25 mainly added HDTV compatibility iirc.

As far as I know, there are rumors of the Viera line being replaced in a february/march 2005 timeframe. There would be both SD and HD models in this new line. HD models will probably be priced higher than the current line, though...

If you want to look into the future, look in the Panasonic Japanese website, they already have the next gen Viera, PX300 series which uses panasonic gen7 technology and all comes with HDMI input (and a whole heap of other digital inputs).

UK/AU got screwed over as the Viera line released here does not come with digital input of any sort.

The US got gen 6 panel Viera but comes with HDMI. Gen 7 "Vieras" are marketed under the Panasoinc Onyx brand and they are very very pricy.

As to your question, no the Viera line won't be replaced soon as they have been just released!

It will have gone by April 05 ........ Panny replace models in 12-18 month cycles...... PA series in UK lasted 12 months PE30 will be about the same and prices fall during the lifespan of the products and there are very good commercial reasons why they do this crap for consumers and retailers but good for panny......
