my panasonic finanally went pop just before xmas with less than 400 hours clocked up. i rang panasonic customer services and informed them of my predicament and outlined that although the pj was 2 1/2 years old i would not expect the bulb (or psu) to fail so soon. the bloke i spoke to was very sympathetic and said that if the bulb had failed so soon then they would replace foc. he did say however i would have to pay courier charges of £39 and £25 inspection fee totalling £64.

so i rang panasonic today to see if they had managed to diagnose the fault and i was told it had been repaired and a new bulb installed and it was being returned to me tomorrow....ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE.  :D .

i would say that anyone in a similar situation, ie pj outside warranty with low hours give them a call, excellent customer service.

Lol in stark contrast to Sony who tried to charge us £2000 + VAT   for replacing a bulb in a PJ 13 months old. (They didn't succeed!)

Also in stark contrast to my own experience with Panasonic I might add. I have an AE500 with a bulb problem IN warranty and they won't even look at it. Just over 100 Hrs clocked on low power. Pardon my French but they're a bunch of tw@ts

Don't despair too much as i had my bulb changed free of charge. Admittedly this was after it blew at 500 hours.
I should be receiving my 500 back any day now after it's second return to Panasonic for the brightness flicker :( I'll let you know if it is cured or not.

Meant to say the AE200 i have as a loaner has less than no flicker so they had better not try to tell me the flicker is a characteristic :nono: :lesson:

keep us posted adenochrome, panasonic told me it mine was within operating parameters/factory specs.

I think they dont understand the problem, im thinking they think we are talking about the panel flicker inherent in lcds (hence them carrying out a Panel voltage adjustment when they had my projector, as well as replacing its bulb - didnt cure the problem.)

Im going to set it back up again this afternoon, and if my ae500 is still being a pest then im emailing a few magazines and asking them to take a peek.

Anybody want to appear on watchdog? :D

I Will let you know when it arrives back.

If it still flickers i'll be asking Komplett if they can perhaps persuade Panasonic to replace it otherwise i may ask visa to do a chargeback.

To be honest Benji i didn't actually do anything.
