you can get hdtv, but it will be in SD resolution so theres not really much point, no real improvement in quality

the pw7 can display HDTV out of the box, but it will scale it down to its native resolution. It will not display a fulll HDTV picture.

i think it will be a better pq than normal sky......but clearly a proper hdcp compliant screen is going to be best result. Xander, there is a forum for scalers and i suggest you look in there before shelling out your hard earned

Sorry to jump in guys, but are you saying the PW7 is not SKY HD compatible because of the resolution or is there some other problem with the DVI-HDCP board available with this screen.

    Hello all

    Just for clarity!!!

The TH-42PWD7 Display is capable of Inputting and Displaying various High Definition signals via RGBHV or YUV on Analogue (HD15 or 3BNC) and Digital (DVI or HDMI).

As others have pointed out as this is a Standard Definition Display - any High Definition sources will be remapped to the Displays 852x480 pixel array. Which means you loose resolution - though you'll still 'know' your looking at HD as there's more to HD than just resolution.

The 'Problem' with the 7 Series Displays for those looking to Input the HDCP encrypted signals that will be Output by a SKY HD Digibox being the lack of support for 720P or 1080i at 50 Hz.

You can use a suitably equipped external video processor to convert 720P(50) and 1080i(50) signals to 720P(60) which the Display will work with - though you risk introducing some Frame Rate Judder in the conversion if you pick the wrong converter.

    Best regards

    Joe
