is there a difference between the warranty offered by Panasonic and the one offered by JL?

I think that the worldwide warranty of Panasonic is one year but JL gives 5 year guarantee.

Yes.

Panasonics warranty is a manufacturers warranty issued directly by them. John Lewis's five year warranty will be backed by an insurance company and is completely seperate from anything provided by Panasonic.

Judging by Panasonics response to the purple snake problem in Px60's i would not trust their warranty much tbh.

John Lewis' warranty is not done by a 3rd party insurance company. they work with manufacturer certified engineers and arrange all repairs themselves.
