    Hello all,

I am having a really annoying problem with my VT65 and wondering if anyone could help?

Basically, when watching some films a popup keeps popping up in the top left corner of the screen. It displays what hdmi channel it is on and also something called x.v.color. The screen flicks black for a second and then the popup is displayed. This happens randomly and makes films unwatchable.

It only seems to happen on new blurays. So far 'This is the end' and 'Elysium'. Anyone have any ideas what this could be and how to fix it? I have searched through all the menu options and can't find anywhere that references x.v.color to turn it off. Why do some films have it and some don't?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Set "contents type flag" to "off" in the set up menu of your blu-ray player.

So why turn off and not enjoy the x.v.colour if it's available?

The image transmitted is still the same, it just removes the pop up messages.

I understand that, the OP seemed to want to disable it completely as a feature probably not understanding it's a benefit...I just commented generally :)

I have the same problem with the VT55 set but I have experienced it only when playing Sony Blu-ray discs (Elysium and Captain Phillips). I have tried contacting Panasonic and so far they have not given me a solution. Really annoying.

Yes, I have the Panasonic DMP-BDT330 Bluray player. Is this a contributing factor?

From memory, watching the only x.v.colour disc I own doesn't act up as you describe, and that's from a Philips BD player to ST60 so perhaps it's a specific player/brand issue...suppose you can't borrow a different player?

I have an old Panny player in the loft (I can't remember the model). I have never had an issue with that so I will try it tonight with a selection of problematic disks and report back. Cheers

It has a larger gamut as an extension to standard HD rec.709 specification...it is not the same as forcing/expanding the normal HD colorspace into a display's wide gamut...

Watched Captain Phillips with nothing popping up. Fantastic PQ on the blu ray disc. My player is a Denon DBP-2012.

I don't know how to resolve this. I have had extensive email exchanges with panasonic but they don't seem to recognise the issue let alone address it! Is there not a technician out there that could come up with the answer?

Hi mate, I'm sorry to bring up this old thread again, but I've been experiencing the same problem, , I've got a Panasonic zt65b and a Panasonic 3d bluray player, I was wondering if you have resolved the problem yet, ? I'd love to know if you can help. I'm getting pop up box constantly when I'm watching elysium mastered in 4k blu ray. Pop up says 1080 p 60hz xv colour. So annoying.

Hi Gawaind1. I wish I had resolved this issue but despite my best efforts I am still experiencing the problem. Panasonic have been singularly unhelpful (they don't seem to want to recognise the issue) and no one on the forum was able to help. I had hoped the latest Panasonic player firmware update resolved the issue but it didn't. I hope you have better luck getting the problem resolved as there must be a solution, and if you do I would be grateful if you would let me know because the pop up box is certainly spoiling my viewing of these Sony discs. Sorry I could not be of help.

thank you for your reply it's very kind of you to take the time. It's just so strange, I gave the elysium mastered in 4k disc to a friend last night to try it on his Sony bluray player and he informed me it worked fine, ( his Sony bluray player incidentally isn't even 3d and years old) , this probably means that at least we can console ourselves in the fact that it's not our Panasonic tvs (well I hope not) it's probably a firmware bug in the panasonic blu ray player. Incidentally the panasonic bluray player I have is the panasonic BDP 130 . I'll keep looking for how we can resolve this issue and I will let you know if I find any answers, It only happened to me last night when I watched, mastered in 4k elysium, , the worrying thing is, is that all new bluray discs coming out will be mastered from 4k, so maybe the only answer is to get a Sony bluray player which I am considering, but I'll try and fix it first it's so annoying it's obviously a bug. Thank you for your time and it's also interesting to know that you tried Panasonic and they had no answers, they're bloody unless, thanks again kind regards Gawain

If you change the VT's colour gamut to native (picture>advanced) does this help at all?

I tried this already, I changed the colour from rec709 to naitive and it made no difference, I'm hoping the problem I down to my Panasonic bluray player and not the TV, I just spent 2,500 on a Panasonic ZT65b, so I pray it's the bluray player.

For those of you with Panasonic BluRay players - does switching "Deep Colour Output" to OFF on the player help? - found in HDMI output normally.

Edit: When I brought my own copies of Elysium & Captain Philips into the store, the same thing happened on a new BDT460 & 65AX802. Sadly, I don't have my films here today to test.

I need to get elysium back from. My friend who tested it on his Sony BLURAY player, who said he had no problems , when I get it back this afternoon I'll try turning the colour gourmet off to see if it helps and I'll get back to you later, it's annoying Panasonic are not even doing anything about it.

I wonder if it's the Panasonic players incompatibility with the colour xv format ,

I have the 50VT65 and ZT65 tv's with the Panasonic BD500 and BD310 with no issues watching Elysium, Captain Philips, Total Recall or Amazing Spiderman so its not all panasonic BD players.
Try speaking to a local Panasonic dealer to see if they can help - they are normally more knowledgeable that the big retail stores and are more willing to help - before i brought the ZT from TPS i spend quite some time on the phone discussing certain issues with plasma/led tv's on many occasions, without the pressure to buy.
    Hope you get it sorted:smashin:
