hi looking to but a nice new crt as my loewe xelos decided to die on me.

i narrowed it down (i think  ) to the Panasonic 36PD50 and Toshiba 36ZP48.

Anyone have any good or bad expirence of these two tv's.

Are they simple to set up?

What's a good sound package to go with them?

Anyone know of any good deals for either of these two?

    Many thanks

    JOHNNY

As said - this has been done to death - look for the later threads as the PD50 has been discontinued so if you can find it it is dirt cheap (region of £600)

EmpireDirect are doing the 36ZP48P for £790 + £50 delivery - although you can save on delivery if you can pick it up from their Bradford warehouse. John Lewis are also doing the Toshiba for around £930 (this includes a 5 year guarantee and free delivery) so all in all perhaps the better deal.

I picked mine up from EmpireDirect two weeks ago when JL where asking over £1000.

I'm totally happy with the set, picture and sound are A1!!!

Thanks guys, i did do a search before i posted, which was helpful, and i just wanted a few more opinions,

Andy, how does the Tosh tv taper at the back? is it quite square or what, only reason i ask it's going to go in quite a tight space.

    Cheers
    JOHNNY

From a personal point of view i would choose the panasonic if you watch a lot of dvds and the tosh if you mainly watch sky.

Johnny, the Toshiba fits well into the corner of my room and takes up little more space than the JVC 28" WS that it replaced (although obviously taller). It is rounded at the back and fits better into the corner than the old TV.
