Coulld anyone advise me as the best 42" plasma to get and the ideal connectivity options? I currently have a Yamaha AV Receiver, with surround speakers attached, Pioneer 656A DVD player, NTL digital cable, Aiwa VHS player, XBOX. AMP acts as hub for all except DVD video wich is direct to TV via RGB scart. I want to replace the TV with the plasma, soley as video device. I also require an additional DVD player for the kids. From reading comments on this forum, and from some looking around I've narrowed my options as follows: A) Panasonic TH42PW7 + cheap DVD for kids Have seen it for 1295 with scart board. Assume best connection option is DVD through RGB-VGA converter, AMP through scart Total around 1500 with JS converter and stand B) Hitachi 42PD5100 + cheap DVd for kids Have seen it for 1780 Assume best connection option is DVD through component, AMP through scart Total around 1900 with stand Is this likely to be better than above in terms of PQ across DVDs and TV as the screen is 1024? C) Panasonic TH42PW7 + new DVD with digital video (kids get old one) Get DVI board for screen, connect DVD to DVI form HDMI (or whatever), AMP to scart? Would this be better PQ than option A? D) Hitachi 42PD5100 + new DVD with digital video (kids get old one) connect DVD to DVI form HDMI (or whatever), AMP to scart? Is this the best option given DVI and the 1024? In summary is the HItachi a better picture given the 1024 res, and would connecting the DVD via DVI be better still and justify spending more on a new DVD?
