Our 26" CRT is on its last legs. Since we're upgrading, we might as well get a larger screen but our living room isn't massive and I'm worried a 40" will swamp things, so I'm drawn to a 37" (which rules out plasma). It'll mainly be used for bog-standard Freeview TV and DVD use – no gaming, no 3D (or rather, I'm not giving my kids that option).

Like most noobs, I've been flicking through these forums for a few weeks and getting more and more overwhelmed (and it doesn't help that I can be obsessive about making the right decision). My budget is anywhere close to £400. Panasonics seem to get consistently high ratings here so I'm tempted by this Panasonic Viera TX-L37E3 at £450.

Is this a reasonable choice? Or for my money could I get something "better"?

    All advice/hints/tips gratefully received!
