having bought my Veria last week (i'm mr happy!!) i have a question:

why cant you change the aspect ratio when veiwing on componant inputs AV4C?

i would mind this if it showed pictures in the correct aspect ration but it doesnt. movies etc are fine but 4:3 TV shows on DVD fill the screen.

    any comments or suggestions welcome.

Sounds odd to me? Ive got the 37PE50 and can switch the ratio around on AV4C, in some cases its necessary! Have you made sure the dvd player is set to 16:9 on the tv type in the setup menu? Other than that it sounds very strange. Might have to be a swift phone call to Panasonic!

If you watch interlaced signals via component then you will be able to change aspect ratios.

If you watch progressive signals via component then the aspect ratio will be fixed to 'wide' and won't be changed.

That's how the PE30's work, I presume the PE50's are the same.
