Panasonic V20 unreliable

my second v20 in a month has packed up this time with a full 2 inch vertical bar running down the set just off center screen. The first set i picked up from the dealer had dead pixels :thumbs
Where to go from here stick with the v20 and persevere maybe go up to the 50 inch but i would think that the same fault will crop up again certainly within the panel batch that was installed by panasonic

Yep i'm a big fan of panasonic but i sincerely do feel that this new range is going to be a waste of time and i don't wont to upset my dealer by keep asking for a replacement as he could get quite upset if it was to continue and i for one wouldn't blame him

Seen this fault more times than I care to remember on Panasonic PDP's.

Poor quality control and cost cutting IMO.

thanks Craig :)
Do you think i should persevere as i do believe that this fault will be widespread as it's extremely unlikely to be a one off as you say you have seen many
Does anyone know anything about the component that's failed and would it be batch related ?

V20 along with the VT20 are IMO the best sets on the market at the moment.

Its a fairly common fault but I'd be amazed if you got another with the same problem. From what I've heard its a drive board that causes the fault. Thing is with tech nowadays they put more and more components on to the main PCB and it generally works out cheaper to replace the whole board, saves on labour expense, fault finding can be a long and costly solution.

I can understand peoples concern with the long time reliability with Panasonic at the moment though, I would possibly consider a warranty of some sort.

Personally my only concern with the V20 is the floating blacks really. And in all honesty I do believe its a fairly minor issue.

You know what they say...third time lucky:)

Considering the amount of problems with Panasonic's 2010 models they should think about using it as their new motto!

What to replace "It's working within specification" :D or perhaps "we have no records of any other complaints of this nature"

well i hope it's just a hiccup but i have my doubts somehow as the panasonic technician at head office was not that positive when speaking with him :thumbsdow
I have a top dealer and he has no problem sending back faulty goods :smashin:
