Panasonic UB-820 vs Sony UBP-X700 vs LG UBK90

What should I get?

Most of the UKB90 reviews I've seen seem to think it's quite quiet, so that's interesting.
It same model hardware and software as old 970. Noise level seem quiet than old 970! Picture is same as old 970! All lg did was improve noise to fix the problem that the reason why it call ubk90.

By contrast, a number of people have reported significant drive (or possibly fan) noise on the UB820; again, looking forward to your review!
Yes I heard about it? I been offer 7 days money back or exchange, if I'm not happy with panasonic ub820! So wait and see review from me starting tomorrow for next 48 hours.

Well, "easily discernable", then. :)
Nope.
Both the UB820 and the UB700 (a very quiet player) test out at the same at <29dB at their loudest.
By contrast the LG UP970 I had was audible, when at the fastest spin speed, over a full blast atmos soundtrack in Transformers The Last Knight, not the quietest of movies...

I guess I've been spoiled by my Oppo 105D I'm that respect - I'm fairly sure it doesn't hit 29dB except maybe when the tray is sliding in and out.

But yeah, the UP970 is not on my list of options, for precisely that reason. :)

Your 105D is a blu-ray player. The figure I gave was for playing UHDs which spin faster, the Panasonics (and other players) are a lot quieter playing blu-ray.

What do you think about Panasonic ub 820 setup?

In my view? Panasonic ub820 is not far off to oppo 203 settings compare to very basic setup settings on sony ubp x700, LG up970 and LG ubk90!

There is more settings when put 4k or blu ray disk put in player next message soon!

I'm afraid there is no Netflix or Amazon Prime apps at this minutes, till next update from panasonic! I see their website say Netflix and Amazon will be update? But when no idea? Sorry can't show you!

I have watch 2 4k and 1 blu ray films? No freeze or blur or judder? Everything run smooth with beautiful clear HDR films with 4 different brightness setting by HDR SETTING button. No noise from drive as it quite where I'm sitting is 3 metre away!
I'm keeping it as I'm happy with panasonic ub820? Look forward dolby vision and HDR10+ update

See this Panasonic ub 9000 dolby vision on YouTube. Looking great when it come out on ub9000 and ub820. Here link

After 2 days off work and testing panasonic ub820 and sony x700? Watching 4 4k and 5 blu ray on both players! On sony x700 with update dolby vision, 3 off 4k freeze half way though films and 1 blu ray too. That not good at all! With sony bug in dolby vision always on in settings screen and blu ray on dolby vision and don't look right at all make them too dark! So turn dolby vision off in settings and it back to normal? As far I say sony had made a big cock up in their software and hardware? Why x700 when x800 is better and it a shame no dolby vision? I can't tell the difference in either HDR or Dolby vision as both look the same? I have see LG ubk90 and I can tell the difference in HDR and Dolby vision! Make no sense with sony! In my views sony made bad decisions doing this down grade to x700 compare good x800?

Panasonic ub820. No.problem so far no freeze at all or noise or any other problem in hardware or software at all? Colour and black is far better compare to sony x700. Just have to wait for update on dolby vision? The way I have see on YouTube in ub9000 can see difference in HDR and dolby vision? Im sure the same way to ub820. So far I'm happy with panasonic ub820.

I see lot of reviews forums as lot people not happy with sony x700 and some say it okay? Okay? How can it be okay? It not, as far I concerned that sony had let lot of people down with their promises? Yes sony do make brilliant 4k tv! How many people had complain about android that are so slow and put up with it? Sony had not done nothing about it? Seem sony not listen to people at all? It really sad the way sony doing at the moment making bad decisions!

I have now return back sony x700 and keep panasonic ub820! Ub9000 is too much money for £900 just 4k blu ray players?

Don't have a disc in when you close the tray unless you want it to play...;)
It will also autoplay at power on. Both cannot be disabled AFAIK.

I power on using eject for this reason unless I know I want to watch whatever disc may be in the player.

That's a bit of a bugger then
I also power on using eject

Just remember as I'm at work! It will autoplay if put disc in the tray! But to stop autoplay? Just press home on remote control and this will take to home screen.

Thanks for that
I prefer to have control of when to playback
