I'm likely to buy this player when it drops soon. I noticed that it boasts a technology that supposts to aid in optimization of HDR and that you may even select OLED from the submenu as to suggest to the player your televisions "Nit" capabilities. It aids somehow in helping tone map for HDR. Now I'm left puzzled at how this works. Does that mean the player essentially hijacks your TVs tone mapping if you fill in the blanks and tell your player to do this? And due to the fact that I'm looking seriously at buying a Sony A8f and realizing that it's HDR isn't on par with some other sets then it would be a curious experiment to see if the Panasonic UB-820 does have the ability to optimize the HDR and tone map it for a better viewing experience.
