    Disaster!

While watching TV tonight the picture on our Pana TX47PT1 seemed to lose one of its tubes, possibly the blue?. The remaining colours are not syncronised (red and green have split) and the colour is distorted at the left hand side of the screen.

Typically the tubes have just run out of the extended 3 year warranty .

Can anyone hazard a guess as to the fault from my description?. Is this typical when a tube fails. If so does anyone have a rough idea of the repair cost?.

It's a while since I've been on the forum so any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Turl

Mine's just done the same thing but lost red.
Did you get it fixed in the end? Someone told me it could be the 'colour chip' and should cost around £12, but I'm expecting the worst.

Is this the same person who always insists it must be the on-off switch when a TV doesn't work at all?

    Turl,

Impossible to say without looking, of course, but it's more likely to be an EHT problem (= very expensive).

    Hope I'm wrong!
