I have narrowed my search for a new 32" TV to the new Panasonic TX32PD50C or Toshiba 32ZP48P.

I particularly like the Panasonic but a bit worried that the problems of its precedessor might be present in the new one.

I like the Toshiba, but as I already have an external sound system, I don't need one built into the TV, but will go for the Tosh if the Panasonic TX32PD50C has similar problem to the previous one.

    Comments please.

Have you considered the Tosh ZP46? Same as ZP48 but with only NICAM sound. Only available from Currys/Comet I understand, but may suit you perfectly.

Anyone who has one know if you can switch of the 100Hz processing on either the TX32PD50C or the alternatives suggested on this thread to get a 50Hz picture for watching football?

Apart from 100 htz,the panasonic uses actuity which is compromise between 100 and 50htz.They dont have a true 50htz scanning mode.

I think there is a 75Hz option on the PD50, at least there is on the 36" version.

Interesting - and good news re picture quality on the Tosh. I have a 36zp46 and am VERY pleased! There are four scanning settings which are geared for normal viewing / movies & fast action / sport / dvd ... pls see following link.

    www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/home.nsf/pages/whatis-pf3-trueimage?opendocument

Whilst 3 of the modes scan at 100Hz the progressive works at 50Hz horizontally with equiv to 100Hz vertically.

There is also Component Video Input which allows for best quality connection if your dvd player has CV output.

The Nicam sound that is built into the set is also fine for normal viewing and comes complete with sub-woffer control from the remote...

    Hope this helps.
