Panasonic TX26LXD500 HDMI problems

Running a TX26LXD500 with a Samsumg DVD-HD950.

Works fine via SCART but if I use the HDMI, no matter what I do to the settings via the DVD or LCD the colour balance is way off. Picture is very grainy, low resolution and most things look red, or have a red outline, sky is green !!!

HDMI is enabled on the DVD and according to the Panasonic manual the formats are compatible (know this because 768 doesn't work and is the only incompatible format). Tried all available outputs and no change, also tried the RGB-Normal / RGB-Expand, RGB options etc.

Checked the cable at local Comet and checked the DVD player and cable at local Richer Sounds and both are fine, just plugged and played.

Any ideas - guess it could be that the HDMI on the TV isn't working but don't have another HD source to check.

Any ideas would be appeciated.

Can you check with another DVD machine, it sounds like a fault with the HDMI socket on the TV. Take it back to the shop and exchange it. Have you got just the HDMI cable connected, try it that way.
